Abraham

Abraham was born in the city of UR , with the name of Abram.  He came to believe that the entire world was created by one God, not several gods, he began to teach this discovery to others.  Abram tried to prove to his father, Terah of the ridiculousness of idol worship.  One day Abram was left alone to mind the store, he took a hammer and smashed all the idols except for the largest one, then he put thee hammer in the largest ones hands, when his father returned, Terah said, what happened Abram? Abram said, the idols got in a fight and the largest one  smashed all the smaller ones, then his father said, that is nonsense these idols have no power  to do such things.  Abram said, then why do you worship them?  Eventually, god spoke to Abram and offered a deal to Abram which was: If you leave your home and his family, I (God) will give you a great nation and I will bless you.  God changed Abrams name to Abraham and his wife's name from sairi to Sarah, and even in their old age, God blessed them with a child named Isaac.

God speaks to Abraham!

Abram lived in a city called Ur.  He helped his father, Terah, who was a merchant.  After  Sargon's  death, Terah was worried.  Many cities near Ur wear under attack.  He took his family to live in Hanan.  After Terah died, his son Abram thought that he should ask the gods what to do.  Abram took a walk that night and God spoke to him!  God told him to go to Canaan.  God said  "If  you obey and worship me, you will be the father a new nation.  I will give all of Canaan to you, and your children."  God changed Abram's name to Abraham, and and his wife's name from Sarai to Sarah.  God gave Abraham and Sarah a son in their old age.  His name was Isaac. Isaac had a son named Jacob.  Jacob's twelve sons were the ancestors of the nation of Israel.
